Established in 1993 the Culburra Veterinary Clinic has been servicing Culburra Beach and the surrounding districts for over 25 years. For the last 15 years the practice has also run a part time consulting room in the nearby town of Callala Bay. This has allowed staff at the clinic to have a wide appreciation of problems unique to the Culburra Beach region in general or localised areas within the district.
The clinic is a friendly family run operation where treatment is constantly under the supervision of the same experienced Veterinary Surgeon rather than the chopping and changing between Vets that commonly happens in larger hospitals. This allows more consistent patient treatment and establishes a better and closer and less impersonal and lifelong Client, Pet, and Vet relationship.
The longest we have provided a lifetime service was for a patient, unfortunately no longer with us, was a lovable little terrier who was only treated by Dr Wright for the whole of its 23 years of life starting with its first vaccination at 6 weeks of age and ending when we had to put the much loved pet to sleep and organise for him to be cremated. The clinic has celebrated a couple of other 21st Birthdays with its patients.
John Wright, the practice owner, graduated with honours from the Sydney University Veterinary School in 1979. Since then he worked in several practices including 4 years in a large, busy multi-man practice in Sydney where he was responsible for the majority of the surgery workload. He spent a number of years doing locum work allowing him to accumulate a wide range of clinical experience. He has been based in the Shoalhaven district for almost 35 years, working in Berry for a number of years before taking a sea change and establishing the Culburra Veterinary Clinic.
